1. MINA MEMORY


            Multi-component project, 2024—ongoingMina Zayed, a historical port area on the coast of Abu Dhabi, is undergoing a comprehensive yet controversial redevelopment scheme. As of 2024, the old fish market in Mina Zayed was demolished to make way for a new modern fish market. With construction underway for the second phase of the re-development, the lives and livelihoods of the people working in the area are the ones at most risk of being disrupted by this change. 
        “Mina Memory” is a project that archives Mina Zayed as it stands in this transitory state. Surveying the last remaining old souks, it seeks to honor the lives behind Mina Zayed’s life and allow them to have their say on the new plans, positive or otherwise. The overarching purpose of this project is not to argue for total preservation, but to urge governmental institutions and city-planners to listen to communities on how their area should transform organically on their own terms.
